Contract questions
Everything you need to know about your WattMatch contract, subscriptions, termination and your rights.
The minimum commitment is 5 years from the activation of your LEC, after which the contract continues for an indefinite term. After this period, either party may terminate at month-end with 4 months' notice. A variable commission in cts/kWh is taken on every kWh exchanged within the LEC (see contract art. 6). Cf. Contract art. 7.
You can terminate from your dashboard: Settings → Termination. After the 5-year minimum period, the notice is 4 months at month-end. Termination is free of charge for consumers. For producers, in the event of early termination (before 5 years), the electricity injected in the last period is remunerated at the statutory SFOE minimum (between 0 and 6 ct/kWh in 2026 depending on power) instead of the LEC tariff (see Contract art. 7.3), except in the waiver cases listed in art. 7.4: relocation outside Switzerland, dissolution of the LEC, substantial change to pricing / Terms, WattMatch default, death, sale of the property.
Use the relocation form in your dashboard (Settings → Move). We'll automatically search for a LEC in your new area. If a LEC is available, you'll be transferred. Otherwise, you'll be added to a waitlist. Your subscription remains active.
Your bill is based on the energy actually exchanged within your LEC:
- Consumer: kWh consumed locally × LEC rate (cheaper than the grid)
- Producer: kWh sold × buyback rate (10–14 cts/kWh, vs. 4–7 cts/kWh SFOE)
Billing is monthly or quarterly, depending on your DSO's cycle. A comparison with the standard grid tariff is included on every bill. Payment is due within 30 days.
Yes. WattMatch complies with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP). Your data is hosted in Switzerland. You can at any time:
- Export your data (Settings → Export my data)
- Request the deletion of your account
- Manage your communication preferences
Your remuneration is paid 30 days after the consumers' payment is received for your LEC (art. 5.5 of the Contract). In practice: at the end of the DSO's billing period (monthly or quarterly), WattMatch invoices the consumers (payment due within 30 days, art. 6.2), then transfers your share 30 days after collection. The amount corresponds to the LEC consumption price minus the WattMatch commission (art. 5.2). A detailed statement is available in your personal area.
To delete your account: Settings → Delete my account. A confirmation email will be sent. After confirmation, a 14-day grace period applies (you can cancel the deletion during this period). After 14 days, all your data is permanently deleted.
Congratulations! To switch from consumer to prosumer (producer + consumer), go to your dashboard and follow the guided journey: add your energy site, configure your IBAN and complete bank verification. Your status will be updated automatically.
