Accessibility statement

Conformance with eCH-0059 v2.0 and WCAG 2.1 level AA

Version 1.0, 9 May 2026

1. WattMatch's commitment

WattMatch is committed to making its web platform accessible to everyone, in line with the Swiss eCH-0059 v2.0 standard (Accessibility of online services) and the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA.

Digital accessibility is a usage requirement for us: a neighbourhood energy service only fulfils its promise if it can be used regardless of each person's situation (disability, age, technical context, keyboard-only navigation, screen readers).

2. Conformance status

This statement applies to wattmatch.ch and all of its public sub-pages (FR, DE, IT, EN). It does not cover the internal admin application and may be extended later to third-party surfaces (payment integrations, banking redirects).

Status
Partially conformant—most WCAG 2.1 AA criteria are met; a few documented exceptions in §4.

3. Evaluation method

Conformance was assessed using a hybrid method:

  • Automated audits with axe-core (the Deque engine that powers Lighthouse, Chrome DevTools, and Microsoft Accessibility Insights). Wired into the CI pipeline: every pull request is tested against eleven main pages × four languages (44 instances); any AA violation blocks deployment.
  • Manual keyboard reviews (Tab, Shift+Tab, arrows, Esc, Enter) on the main flows: signup, LEC discovery, savings simulator, contact.
  • Screen-reader testing (VoiceOver on macOS, NVDA on Windows) on interaction-heavy areas: modals, mobile menus, forms, autocomplete suggestion lists.
  • Contrast checks via WCAG ratio computation (text colour / background colour) on visible elements.
  • 200 % zoom testing on a 1280 px viewport (effective 640 px)—pages must remain usable without horizontal scrolling for single-column content.

4. Partially accessible content

The following elements have known limitations as of the date of this statement and are being addressed:

  • Interactive Leaflet map (page /map): the third-party Leaflet component supports mouse and touch navigation, but keyboard interaction within the map area itself is limited. An equivalent text-based search (combobox by postal code / municipality / LEC ID) is available in the sidebar and reaches the same information without using the map.
  • Signed-contract PDFs: PDF documents produced via electronic signature are not systematically tagged for screen readers. An accessible HTML version of the terms and contract is published on the /terms and /contract pages.
  • Transient confirmation notifications (toasts): some confirmation messages auto-dismiss after a few seconds. The information remains consultable in the dashboard history.

These items are tracked in our continuous improvement process. If a piece of content blocks you, get in touch (§5)—we'll provide an accessible alternative as quickly as possible.

5. Reporting an accessibility issue

If you run into a difficulty accessing information or functionality, or if you'd like to flag an accessibility defect, you can write to us:

Email
accessibility@wattmatch.ch
Form
/contact—please specify "Accessibility" in the subject.
Response time
10 working days. For an urgent request (inability to complete an essential action), we'll offer an immediate alternative by email.

Please include in your message: the affected page (URL), the browser and any assistive technology you're using (screen reader, zoom, keyboard-only navigation), and a description of the issue.

6. Path to escalate

If you find our reply unsatisfactory, you may contact the Federal Office for the Equality of People with Disabilities (FOEPD) or a Swiss organisation defending disability rights (Access for All, Inclusion Handicap).
