# Your solar surplus is worth more than the feed-in tariff.

WattMatch sells it for more, with no effort.

Sold to your neighbours instead of taken back by the grid, the same kilowatt-hour pays better. WattMatch handles the rest, from the matching to paying you out.

HOW IT WORKS

## The Local Electricity Community (LEC)

A legal framework in force since 2026: it lets a solar roof sell its surplus to the consumers connected to the same local grid. The power takes no different path, it still flows through the distributor's grid.

No LEC

With LEC

**With WattMatch**, electricity flows between neighbours **Today**, electricity is sent back to the grid at a low price

### Describe your installation

1. Power and address. Two minutes is enough, no technical documents.

### Together, we bring your consumers on board

2. You invite the neighbours you already know, and our algorithm adds those whose consumption profile best matches your surplus.

### We set up and run the LEC

3. We form the LEC with your neighbours, register it with your distributor and manage everyone's contracts.

### You get paid, every quarter

4. The proceeds of the sale are paid into your account. Real-time tracking in your dashboard.

### The metering

Your smart meter measures, every quarter of an hour, what leaves your roof and what the neighbours use at that same moment.

### The price

The legal 20 to 40% rebate on grid fees funds a better rate than the feed-in tariff for you, and a cheaper one than the grid for them.

### Your own use comes first

Your home, your electric car and your battery always serve themselves first. The LEC only buys the surplus that would go to the grid anyway, with no minimum volume: if you use more, you simply sell less.

Why is it risk-free?

## Everything to gain, nothing to lose.

Selling your surplus to your neighbours commits you to nothing new. Three things to know before you sign.

### You cannot lose

What your neighbours do not absorb goes back to the grid at the feed-in tariff, as it does today. Local sales add to it, they replace nothing.

### One contract, no paperwork

You sign once, with WattMatch. Metering, billing and dealings with your distributor are on us.

### Nothing changes on your roof

No new equipment, no intervention. Your installation, your inverter and your meter stay exactly as they are.

## Frequently asked questions

Do I lose my self-consumption?

No. Your home still serves itself first, as it does today. Only the surplus, what went to the grid anyway, is sold to your neighbours.

I charge an electric car or I am planning a battery: is the LEC still worth it for me?

Yes, the two go together. Your home, your car and your battery always come first: the LEC only takes what would otherwise go to the grid. There is no minimum volume and joining costs nothing: if your surplus shrinks, you sell less, that is all. And when the battery is full around midday, in summer especially, the overflow your neighbours use earns more than the buyback tariff.

How much more do I earn?

Surplus sold locally earns more than the feed-in tariff. The gap depends on your distributor's tariff and on what your neighbours consume. The estimate at the top of this page is free.

What if my neighbours don't use all my surplus?

It goes back to the grid at the feed-in tariff, as it does today. You cannot lose.

I produce AND consume, can I combine both?

Yes, that is the prosumer profile. Your panels sell their surplus to the neighbours, and the electricity you lack, at night or in winter, is billed to you at the LEC price with the grid-fee rebate. Both gains add up on the same bill. In the simulator at the top of the page, tick “I also consume at this address”.

What is a LEC?

A Local Electricity Community (LEC) lets a solar roof sell its surplus to the consumers connected to the same local grid. The power takes no different path, it still flows through the distributor's grid.

How is it possible that everyone benefits?

Electricity that stays in the neighbourhood costs less to carry. Since 2026 the law requires the grid operator (DSO) to pass that saving on: a 20 to 40% rebate on grid fees for electricity traded within the LEC. That margin pays the producer more and lowers the consumer's bill.

Who handles the contracts and the billing?

WattMatch. We create the LEC, handle metering, bill the consumers and pay your income out to you every quarter. No paperwork on your side.

Does sharing electricity with my neighbours require any building work?

No. The connection already exists: a LEC runs over your DSO's public grid, with no new cable and no change to the meters in place. What is new is grouping together and measuring the exchanges every quarter of an hour through the smart meter.

Do I have to change distributor?

No. You stay with your current distributor. The LEC works alongside your existing contract.

Condominium, apartment building or existing self-consumption group: does it work?

Yes, in all three cases. Flats with individual meters: each co-owner joins in their own name, and the solar installation has its own production metering point. Building already in a self-consumption group (ZEV/RCP): it has a single metering point and joins the LEC as one entity, which sells the surplus leaving the group. Condominium: the hurdle is not the connection but the general-assembly decision, since the roof is a common part.

Is it legal in Switzerland?

Yes. The revised Electricity Supply Act (LApEl/StromVG) came into force on 1 January 2026: it creates LECs and requires grid operators to grant the grid-fee rebate on locally traded electricity.

How much does it cost?

Creating your profile and the matching are free, with no fixed fees and no subscription. WattMatch earns its keep from the margin the grid rebate creates: electricity exchanged within the LEC pays 20 to 40% less in grid fees, and it is from that margin that we take at most 2 ct per kWh sold, nothing else. The rest of the margin is your selling price, better than the feed-in tariff. The effective rate is published on the pricing page and is set out in article 6 of the contract, which you read before signing.
